About me

I think my love of textiles and nature is marked by the extremely pleasurable exciting experiences and amazing places I’ve visited.

I got into textiles when I was a child growing up in Derry with an abundance of texture and grey light in a barbed wire city. The need for escapism at the time enabled me to change my surroundings into a series of shapes lines, colour and texture. I began to gather fabrics and other materials to sew and weave.

We left Derry for the Isle Of Man where the war torn barbed wire city of Derry was swapped for an exotic mystical green wind and sea swept rocky coastal oasis. This is where for me the curvaceous landscape merged with the evocative folds of fabric.

I shared this magical place with my husband and children. Our precious moments of strolling through breathtaking glens and beaches will forever influence my art with my most treasured memories.

I studied Applied arts in the UK where my love of recreating utilitarian everyday objects into functional aesthetically pleasing art work developed even more. Bringing textiles up from simple artisanry to the category of art. Remaining faithful to weaving and the folds and curves of the landscape wishing my audience to connect to nature as deeply as I do. Creating a serene escapism.
